After 2 and a half years of blogging, I have finally decided to do the one thing that has bugged me from day one….change my blogs name. The address will remain the same for now but the title has changed to “The Oenophiliac.” It’s a bit of a smart arsed name really, one that I’m pretty damned chuffed with; a play on words if you like, but at least it doesn’t leave you spitting uncontrollably at someone when asked the name of your blog.
Magics Wine Guide and Reviews for Newbies has served its purpose and, to be fair, was a bit of a mouthful! As the title suggested it was the literal translation of what I wanted my blog to be but at the time of starting my scribblings I couldn’t think of an apt name to call it. I was sitting around for hours, just keen to get on with writing, wanting to hone my typing skills, eager to start and couldn’t come up with a cool enough name, so I ended up with the longest name possible.
Anyway, here’s to The Oenophiliac, the new name for Magics Wine Guide and Reviews for Newbies, god bless all who sail on her!
Very cool! I too struggle with name length and required explanations LOL. Glad you have one less thing to worry about now!
Regards.

It’s funny what you come up with on long journeys. I was on a coach from London to Edinburgh, thinking about content for a newsletter I was asked to write, when the name just popped up. It has multiple meanings but whilst confirming the meaning of ‘Philia’ I discovered it was an ancient word for love. Apt irony me thinks!
