Bella Luce
Ferrari-Carano white blend
2010
If Bella Luce were a woman, she would be a ballet dancer. As I sit here sipping Ferrari-Carano’s luscious white blend, the word that comes to mind is graceful. This mélange of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Canelli, and Gewürztraminer is supple and delicate in body and delightfully aromatic. The peach, lime, grapefruit and lemon notes dance across your palate, and the floral and vanilla aromas leave you aching for more. It’s the nuance of flavors that will capture you, like the subtle movements that define an exquisite performance. Although the pale gold color might tempt you to pair it with a hearty chicken dish, don’t be fooled. Such an elegant and lithe wine deserves something finer, like angel hair pasta with veggies, a flaky white fish (such as tilapia), or a fluffy quiche. My final word about Ferrari-Carano’s Bella Luce: encore.
