Los Boldos Momentos Sauvignon Blanc
Casablanca – Chile
Grape Variety – Sauvignon Blanc
ABV – 13.5%
Pale watery colour. Good, ripe, citrus, pineapple tropical fruit on the nose. Soft citrus, lemon and grapefruit palate. A good blend of fruit and mellow acidity. Dry with good length.
I’m going to go out on a limb here to say that this is quite possibly the best Sauvignon I’ve had this year. It’s a well rounded, elegant wine. You generally never talk about acid levels in Sauvignon as being soft but in this wine it’s like snuggling up to an eider down pillow. It’s great. The fruit works on so many different levels of your palate without being over the top.
Chilean Sauvignon’s have a lot to offer and if marketed well can challenge New Zealand in quality and, more importantly, price.
So if you feel the need for a change from your Kiwi fare this little baby is as good a place to start. Pure class!
Drink on its own or with white meat dishes and summer foods.
